Biography of Gini Campbell Annis

 

Education: 

Gini graduated with honors from San Jose State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art, concentrating on life drawing and painting.  Believing there is no alternative to good training and hard work, she studied intensively with the late Wellington Smith, George Strickland and Maynard Stewart (CSUSJ).

Gini has attended many classes and workshops, some of which include:

Experience:

Owner of Campbell Art Studio and Gallery where she holds classes in oil painting and drawing and where she works on commissioned paintings.

Has taught oil painting for several years at Truckee Meadows Community College’s main campus and community services division.

Commissioned to paint the portrait of Federal Court Judge Howard McKibben, which hangs in the Federal Court Building in Reno, Nevada.

Commissioned to paint the portrait of Rev. James Jeffries, which hangs in Trinity Episcopal Church, Reno, Nevada.

Contributed her knowledge and skill in creating the display entitled “Cartones” for Harrah’s National Automobile Museum.

Gini is the first and only artist to be invited to have a one-artist show at Harrah’s National Automobile Museum, where they opened the entire museum to Gini’s guests and escorted them personally to the gallery.

Gini was the featured artist at the Stein Gallery (Sept. ‘03)

Participates in Artouring, Open Studio Tour, and California avenues’ “Amblin’ on the Avenue”

Paintings displayed at The Nevada Museum of Art

Demonstrated oil painting techniques at the Nevada Artist Association meeting and the Latimer Club meeting.

Gini has had several one-artist shows in California and Nevada.  Most notable were Faces of Nevada, People of Value (1996), The Unknown Rose (1998) and The Magic of Realism (2003).
